Water is the Achilles heel of wood. I've seen a soaked wood floor lift cabinets up a few inches, it's amazing. This one was no exception. With planks this wide this floor didn't stand a chance. The color match was tough too, the existing floor had faded to a dark red at the ends but retained a bit of a yellow-ish color where the rug was. We opted to match the color at the ends for the whole repair, it virtually disappears when the rug is in place... We finished it with VerMeister's Velvet- a very low sheen finish made to mimic the look of hand rubbed oil as the existing floor had very little shine.
